Meaning of Qadar

Since I knew early in my pregnancy of  my son’s heart defect, I knew that it was Allah’s (God’s) divine Will that it be. For nine months I stayed in prayer, researched the defect, emailed families with the same defect, and searched for his name. I researched his name because he was a special child of Allah’s (God’s) and required a name that was befitting to him and his condition.

I know that nothing happens but by Allah’s (God’s) permission. When I discovered his name first name it encompassed him – Qadar.

Qadar means in short Divine Destiny and Decree. When I read the extensive meaning on islamanswers.net I knew that that was it.

“Destiny means that everything that exists, from subatomic particles to the universe as a whole, is known by God Almighty. His Knowledge includes all space and time, while He Himself is absolutely free both of them. Everything exists in His Knowledge, and He assigns to each a certain shape, life span, function or mission, and certain characteristics.

Destiny also means to predetermine or preordain, while Decree means to execute or put into effect.”
